ACS for Lync 2013

Active Communications Server (ACS)

The Active Communications Server is a solution based on Microsoft Lync 2013 and is the platform for Presence, Instant Messaging, Enterprise Voice, Video Conferencing and Collaboration for organizations worldwide. ACS is 110% Lync.

Setting a new standard

With the latest ACS we set a new standard for Lync deployments. The ACS solution is an efficient, scalable and reliable solution which shortens the install and implementation time within any organization and it simplifies maintenance.

The ACS Active Directory Connector allows a quick and easy integration within the enterprise without any impact on your (IT) environment: no schema changes to your AD and connecting multiple AD’s in a multi-forest environment.

Depending on your requirements, the ACS solution can integrate with the existing PBX or ultimately replace it completely. Also, external access, connectivity with other companies, public IM integration and Lync mobile are supported from the start and can be easily enabled.

ACS has two versions: Light and Enterprise. Both versions are available as a Hardware Appliance as well as a Software Only deployment fully virtualized on your exiting platform.

Presence and IM

With Lync you can see in a blink of an eye who is available. Your own availability is automatically synchronized with Outlook. Lync provides secure Instant Messaging with internal and external parties. Integration with Microsoft Office enables a rich communications experience.

Voice

Wideband audio quality enables an excellent experience in your daily conversations through the Microsoft Lync 2013 client, handset or headset. Make calls wherever you are, as if you are in the office. Through integration with Microsoft Office you can dial your contacts directly from Outlook or SharePoint.

Video

Video enriches the conversation experience. Human communication consists of 93 percent non-verbal communication, which makes video the key ingredient in your daily communication. With it, you will notice whether you are understood and it keeps the attention to your conversation. In Lync you add video to your conversation with the click of a button.

Collaboration

From presenting a PowerPoint presentation to your colleagues and sharing your screen, to handing over mouse control or sharing a whiteboard with your customer via the Internet, it’s all done from within a single unified Lync desktop client.

Complete solution

On top of this complete solution, depending on your needs, conference rooms can be equipped with Lync optimized conference phones or a Video Conferencing (VC) solution. VC solutions from brands like Polycom, LifeSize and Tandberg integrate well with Lync and can be ‘called’ like any other Lync user.

To enjoy the excellent sound quality of Lync it’s recommended to use a good headset, preferably one optimized for Lync. Active Communications recommends Plantronics and Jabra headsets for Lync.

With optional IP desk phones that are optimized for Lync, the end-user telephony experience is completed. Popular brands include Polycom and HP.
